Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool (SERT) is a LiveCD that can scan and remove malware from an infected computer.
SERT is useful in situations where computers are too heavily infected and is not allowing to install any antivirus.
It is usefull tool to remover 'tricy' risks from the system.
How to Use it:
1. Burn the image, which was provided in .iso format, into a CD/DVD
2. Download the latest virus definitions (.jdb file) from Symantec Security Response ,preferably the Rapid Release http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=rr
3. open (.jdb file) file using winrar (openwith option) and extract all files (50-70)to a removable media, such as an USB stick or flash card( to the root of the usb device.)
4. Boot the infected computer from the SERT disc (while booting USB stick or Flash card must be plugged in with .jdb file)
5. click on 'Continue loading Endpoint Protection Tool' (then language selection, license agreement)
6. left bottom corner click on 'Brows for virus defination' and select USB disk & then .jdb file
7. Rest of is easy..just scan..
