Description : Ananda Shankar and His Music 1975 :
This is a reissue of the classic 1975 LP Ananda Shankar and his Music, by Ananda Shankar. Ananda Shankar was Ravi Shankar's Nephew and was one of the first musicians to mix Indian music with western pop styles back in the 1960s.
Ananda Shankar and his Music expertly mixes 70s funky grooves with Sitar and Indian instruments and melodies. Well, it sounds like that to us anyway. Along with the fantastic up-tempo numbers, we also get treated to a few lovely tracks that are more on the chilled side. it was originally issued in India and has become one of the world's most sought-after records!

Streets Of Calcutta - mp3 - Ananda Shankar
Review : Ananda Shankar and His Music 1975 :
Incredible Indian record !!! including 2 killer dancfloor psyché cuts " streets of calcutta " & " dancing drums " hightly recommended for rare grooves dj's. Ananda Shankar became well know in the 90's when Capitol records picked "Streets of Calcutta" and "Dancing Drums" for their Blue Note famous break beat compilation. More stuff with same caliber instrumentations on this album. Perhaps the best !
This 1975 album is a stunner -- way more open-minded than his other album for Reprise (which we've also got on reissue!), with tracks that push the funky groove a lot farther than you'd expect, swirling percussion, organ, guitar, tablas, moog, and sitar all together into an unbelievable sound that will leave you breathless!
